wickedwit: (simmering)

Good isn't the reaction a normal man should have to a demon shoving him to the ground, but Claudius is not and will not ever be a normal man. With the way he's been bluffing, he can't switch tactics and pretend to be helpful now. He needs to be menaced a little. The ground is a good place to look menaced from. "You've made your point," he spits out. "If this is as nice as it gets, so be it. All I will tell you is not to trust whatever trail you think you're following." As though1, even in his defeated position, he can't resist adding a further barb, he adds, "He's gotten the better of you before, Hastur. Remember what happened to Ligur2?"

1 'As though' because that's what he's doing, but it works for the bit. Claudius will always commit to the bit.
2 Claudius doesn't! But there was a cute joke about it in the burn book.
